THINGS TO DO

  • Spend a day at the beach!  Loon Lake, Brant Lake and Schroon Lake all have public beaches.  Bring a chair and relax for the day.  Grab a book from our canoe bookcase – we have some great reads there!
  • Lake George truly is “the Queen of the American Lakes”!  See the lake from the water – the Lac du Saint Sacrement, the Minne Ha Ha – when you are on the water, the views up and down are tremendous!  Mountains above, and crystal clear waters below.
  • After a day on Lake George, stop by the outlets, just south of the village!  Who can pass up a bargain?
  • The Adirondack Museum in Blue Mountain Lake is one of a kind.  History comes to life in this one-of-a-kind campus.
  • Speaking of history – check out Fort Ticonderoga!  Before you do, make sure to watch Daniel Day Lewis’ Last of the Mohicans again.  Your visit will evoke scenes from the movie itself!
  • Antiquing in Warrensburg is a day well spent!  And don’t forget to stop at Oscar’s Smoke House on the way back!

FOR THE MORE ACTIVE VISITORS

  • Best absolute bike loop is the 12 mile loop around Brant Lake.  Park at The Hub in Brant Lake and gear up!  This ride has the best views, especially on the backside of the lake.  Only one small hill to contend with.  Before heading back, make sure to stop at the “pickle lady” on Route 8, just past Palisades Road.  She makes the best darn dill pickles ever!  And she also makes her own mozzarella cheese, too.  When you get back to The Hub, try one of their crazy delicious sandwiches, and great beer and wine.  You earned it!
  • Best far and away hike is Crane Mountain in Wevertown.  The views up Crane will make you say “That is spectacular!”, only to turn a corner and say “No, that is even MORE spectacular!”  And almost at the peak is a pristine lake.  Bring your bathing suit!
  • Best 18 holes in the North Country – Cronin’s Resort north of Warrensburg.  James and John, the owners, continually improve the course, and the landscaping details are more what you would expect to find at a high end country club.  The third hole along the Hudson is calling for an eagle!
  • Best dare that you shouldn’t take – rent a boat on Lake George and venture over to Calves Pen, where you can choose whether to jump from 10 feet up, 20 feet up, or 30 feet up.  They say the water is about 200 feet deep there.  After you lose your bet, because you ended up jumping from only 10 feet up, make your way down the lake to Paradise Bay.  Swim, float, keeping your boat floating close by.  Don’t anchor, just float.  It is heaven on Lake George.  And you have packed a cooler, so tie up at one of the islands and have a picnic.  Which island?  Maybe in the Mother Bunch, or the Narrows.  How about Hens and Chickens?

HAVE A FAMILY PET THAT YOU HATE TO LEAVE BEHIND?

  • Consider leaving you pet close by at the Windy Mountain Kennels in Granville.  Visit for a day on your way out to hike!
